Hello all

This is particularly for Music tech students although its worth a read by the rest of you. Its a post on recordproduction.com about the role of a producer.

Just follow this link What Do Producers Do? by Compressor

Also worth checking out is Ian Shepherd’s post The Seven Types Of Music Producer

Hope that’s useful.

Websites worth checking out

There are a number of websites for music performance, music production etc. that are well worth checking out. You’ll find a number of them that i regularly visit just over there in the middle column. I’ll continue to add to that list as we find new and useful places of interest. For now here’s a breakdown of the ones we have already.

Music Think Tank – A great site which covers many topics related to the music industry. Includes great links and some very interesting blog posts. You can also follow them on twitter.

Production Advice – Many very insightful blogs regarding production tips from recording to mixing to mastering as well as some great links to other music related sites. You can follow production advice on twitter here:

Home Studio Corner – More interesting tips and tricks for recording and mixing. Also join the newsletter to get a free eBook on Home Music Production. You can follow Joe Gilder creator of Home Studio Corner here:

Ultimate Guitar Tabs – You probably already know this one but thought i’d put it down anyway. Get guitar tabs in text, guitar pro, guitar guru etc. formats.

Music Notes – Has a wide range of sheet music for most instruments.

PRS for Music – For all your royalty questions.

Hope that’s useful, we’ll keep adding to the list and if you have any suggestions please comment back.
